During the celebration of the II Mercator International Symposium the ceremony of the Linguapax Awards was held. These awards are meant to be a recognition to linguists, researchers, teachers or civil society members whose task for the promotion of language diversity and/or multilingual education has been outstanding. The international award was given to the Finnish linguist Dr. Tove Skutnabb-Kangas (University of Roskilde, Denmark), who gave the symposium’s opening plenary.

The national award was given to the Menorcan linguist Aina Moll (University of Barcelona), who is a specialist in Romance languages and a member of the Insitute of Catalan Studies (Philology Section). More information at Linguapax >>
